MAURICIO ARRIOJA

Mauricio Arrioja is a filmmaker and creative producer with a solid business background. Since he was 13 years old, Mauricio was making his own homemade films in Mexico where he grew up drawing inspiration from leading directors of the time. Coming from a painting art form background, his passion of telling stories came from watching films made by Guillermo Del Toro and Steven Spielberg. No stranger when it comes to traveling, Mauricio has lived all over the world spending time in Denmark where he had the chance to study at Sorø Academy where the famous writer Hans Christian Andersen once studied. One could say it’s a place that inspires many forms of storytelling.  

While living in Europe, he studied diverse film movements including Dogme 95 and other European movement films. Mauricio has a deep passion to explore stories. He loves the style and lighting techniques of the film noir films and the stylistic elements coming from the German expressionism. Fluent in Spanish and English, with some Danish, Mauricio is able to tell stories that span cross-cultural divides.

Working with the award winning director Jorge Ameer as a producer, the two were able to complete the feature film Medusa which has garnered awards in the horror film circuit. Other producing credits include independent films, music videos, and commercials. Mauricio proves to be well versed to handle a wide variety of projects that comes his way. Some of his works include: Medusa, Monumental, and Mind Blown; a Univision music video starring the Puerto Rican singer Noelia.

Favorite filmmakers include: Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, David Lynch, Federico Fellini, Lars von Trier, Alejandro Amenábar and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
